Well Done Palancas Negras!

February 5th, 2008 | By: kiko | 3 Comments »

The Palancas negras might have lost the quarter-final match to Egypt, but the majority of the Angolans are still proud of the team.
There will always be those who will choose to criticise individuals and blame the referee (Its asking too much for some people to just accept defeat) but the majority is just happy that the team got that far and expect further improvement from the team in the next nations cup. In fact, because the cup will be played in Angola in 2010, most fans are now expecting the team to get to the final!

I have to say that this was a big chance for Angola to get far, since they played Egypt and Ivory Coast weeks before the AFCON started. They drew with Egypt 3-3 and beat the Ivory Coast 3-2.
They have a second chance in 2010. Although it worries me that the matches will all be played in the new stadiums. Hopefully it wont affect their ability to smack the so called “big boys of African football” at home (diouf came up with that term- before Senegal lost the match).
