Palancas Arrive in Germany

May 20th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | 3 Comments »

The next World Cup champions have arrived in Germany and their luggage tags say they are from Angola. The team landed in Hanover and were driven to the town of Celle, where they will spend the next few weeks getting ready for the tough task ahead. For those who live in Germany or are making the trip there, you can watch the team at a training session open for the public on June 7 in Celle. If you go, take some pictures and send them to me. I can’t wait to see this team play again!

I got this from a bigsoccer.com blog. I’m not sure if this is a rumor, but I’d exercise caution anyway..

“According to A Bola, in 21 June several neonazis are going to show support for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (president of Iran) and the celebration of Michael Kuehenen’s birth (one of the first germans defending the nazi regime after WWII). Besides german groups, the police is worried about the coming of others from East Europe, Italy and Spain.
The head responsible of the police syndicate, Konrad Freiberg, admitted that the police forces won’t be prepared to ensure safety and public order in case such manifestations occur. However, the german authorities won’t allow the parade that the neonazis are organizing.
So the police recomends extreme care to the foreigners that move that day to Leipzig to watch Iran vs Angola.”
