No Pedro, No Problem

Pedro Emanuel, we hardly even knew ya. Today it was confirmed that the FC Porto defender will not be allowed to play for Angola in the World Cup even though he was born in Angola. Bad ruling in my opinion. The guy has never played for Portugal’s senior team and should be allowed to represent his birth country if that is what he wants to do.

Now that it is official, we have to move on. One of our other defenders will have to step up and play like a champion. Emanuel is pure class. Now we need someone else to play at an equally high level. I have faith that it can be done. Staying positive in this week of bad news isn’t easy, but it is the only way, Palancas fans!

Very frustrating. We are very weak in defense. This week is proving to be the worst week for Angola’s hope of producing an upset. It cant get any worse than this.

[...] Angola – After thrashing Mauritius 5-1 last Saturday, the Angolans continued their World Cup preparation with a convincing 3-1 win over Lesotho on the COSAFA Cup. But there is some bad news in Angola too. Neither Pedro Emanuel nor Chainho will be allowed by FIFA to play this World Cup for Angola. [...]
