Nando Rafael
When I think about the possibility of seeing Angola play without Pedro Mantorras at the World Cup, I get kind of disappointed. But instead of pouting about it, I think we should help coach find a good replacement at forward. One guy I would like to see get a shot with the Palancas Negras is Nando Rafael .
He is just 21, but after playing in the youth system at Ajax and three years at Hertha Berlin, the striker is having a nice year at Borussia M’Gladbach in Germany. He has played 20 games and has scored five goals. I’m fairly convinced that this kid is the future of Angola football if he can be convinced to play for the Palancas. He left the country when he was eight after both his parents died and has lived most of his life in Holland. But he does hold Angola citizenship.
The time has come for him to get a shot.
