It’s All Business for Figueiredo

June 7th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | 1 Comment »

A lot of people are taking interest in Angola’s match on Sunday against Portugal because of the historical connections. I understand that, but I am happy to see that the players and coaches are more concerned with getting a result than anything else.

Today there is a feature about Figueiredo, who was born in Angola but has lived in Portuagl since he was three.

“It will be very strange for me to play against Portugal. All my family is Portuguese, but they have already told me they will be cheering for Angola,” said Figueiredo. “It will be a strange feeling, but it turned out this way and I will try to do my best so that we beat Portugal.”

Keeper Joao Ricardo and a few others share similiar experiences living and playing in Portugal but representing Angola in the World Cup. It will only add to the fun on Sunday. Regardless of who we line up against, I think our players are going to put forth their best effort.

That’s all we can ask for. Go Palancas! Go Angola!
