Angola the Worst Team in the World Cup?
I see from the latest FIFA rankings that Angola is ranked 6oth in the world, which makes us the lowest ranked team to qualify for the World Cup. I have one word to describe this: RUBBISH!
Clearly we aren’t the first ranked team, but correct me if I am wrong. Who beat Togo in the African Cup of Nations this year? Angola did, yet the Sparrowhawks are ranked two spots higher. That makes no sense. Is Ghana really ten spots better than the Palancas Negras? I don’t think so. Would we lose to Trinidad and Tobago? Probably not.
Meanwhile, take a look at our World Cup opponents. Iran is 19. Mexico is 7. Portugal is 10. If you believe these rankings we are in the Group of Death!

The rankings are worthless. All they do is make a team cocky and end up making them underestimate opponents. We dont need it.

I have just read that Mantorras could miss the world cup according to jornal de angola. If this happens, then be prepared for thrashing.

Fellow angolanos, I am portuguese so our teams will meet. About rankings, well… The people who said Angola wouldn’t go to Germany (ever) are now watching Angola on TV… For me this says enough.
Angola is there, therefore it’s as dangerous as any other. In my mind, at least. So I say again that I’m more worried about Angola (I remember the last match in Lisbon against Portugal – not a walk in the park at all), Iran and Mexico, than with ALL the other teams Portugal MIGHT NOT meet…
It ain’t over till it’s over. If we both lose, who cares about rankings…? Rankings are only interesting to find out who gets to be seeded or not… The rest’s bollocks…
