Angola, Al Ahly Squabble Over Gilberto’s Medical Bills

January 26th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | No Comments »

Angola Press, required reading each day here at World Cup Blog, is reporting that the Angolan Federation of Soccer will pay for the medical expenses related to Gilberto who was injuried in a friendly against Morocco last week. The FAF wants to send Gilberto to Portugal for surgery.

Why is this big news?

Because Gilberto’s club team Al Ahly of Egypt wants the player to get treatment in Germany. AND, this is a big and, they want Angola to foot the bill.

The two sides are expected to meet soon to resolve this pressing situation.
