Ah Crap, Gilberto is Hurt

Angola midfielder Gilberto has been ruled out of the African Cup of Nations in Egypt with an Achilles injury, which he sustained during a friendly with Morocco this week.

The injury requires surgery in Germany and threatens Gilberto’s chances of playing in the World Cup summer.

I’m sorry Palancas Negras fans, but this is very, very, very, very, very bad news. Very bad news. Gilberto was da man during qualifying and finding a replacement for him at left mid is going to be tough.

Brazil-based striker Johnson Macaba is likely to replace Gilberto on the roster, but this will do nothing to stop me from shedding tears of dispair.
