Your Starting XI Defenders
We know the players that will represent Angoal at the World Cup, now let’s set the starting lineup. Yesterday I asked for your vote for the starting goalkeeper. Today I ask for the four defenders you want to start at the World Cup. The players you can choose from are: Defenders: Delgado (Petro Atletico), Jamba (AS Aviacao), Kali (FC Barreirense), Lebo Lebo (Petro Atletico), Loco (Primeiro Agosto), Marco Abreu (Portimonense), Marco Airosa (FC Barreirense), Rui Marques (Hull).
What is your starting backline?

Defense is Angola’s headache. All these guys are worthless against a star striker. I would select:
Rui Marques
Kali
Marco Abreu
Jamba
Anyone has a better idea? What do you think Pasha?

Dido, I think we should play all eight defenders at once. Might improve things
Seriously, I like your picks except I’d like to see Lebo play. I haven’t seen Rui Marques in a few years. Does he have the speed and skill to make a difference?

Rui Marques has got good speed- but the skill to mark a good striker, I am not sure.

There are problems in this position. Lebo is very tall but doesnt seem to be good at headers, Kali throws himself to tackle too early sometimes(maybe because he is not able to keep up with the guy he’s marking) and Rui marques is possibly at the lowest point of his career. Loco and Jamba have been ok, although not brilliant. I still have nightmares of delgado being taken by Eto’o (Delgado was hopeless) so I would select the following players:
Jamba
Loco
Lebo Lebo (lets hope the opposition dont play long balls)
Marco Abreu (I haven’t seen much of him)

The African cup of Nations was a good test for our D… remember Eto.

Lebo Lebo
Kali
Marco abreu
Jamba

I’d like to see Lebo, Rui, Jamba, and Kali playing D, as starters..

Delgado should cheerlead from the bench; he’s old.. and he can’t guard Pauleta, Karimi, or any other fast FW…
