Hey Mexico, We’re Coming to Play!
My friend Luis Carlos over on the Mexico blog has an entry in response to my posts about our glorious victories last weekend in the Cosafa Castle Cup.
It is great to see this friendly, yet competitive dialogue! You know I posted that as a bit of joke because we all know that Mauritus and Lesotho aren’t in the same class as Portugal and Mexico. But still, I am proud that our team played so well especially since they were mostly our domestic players playing. As for Luis Carlos’ very good questions:
1. Do we underestimate Angola?
Most people underestimate the ability of our team. But it is the World Cup so your coach will have the team ready. Still, our players are better than a lot people are saying. We might not have experience in the World Cup, but believe me when I say that we are not a weak minnow that is going to roll over and let you pound us.
2. Should we?
Please do. We want to beat you
3. Is Angola the weakest team in the World Cup? if not who is it?
Not even close. Angola is better than some teams and equal to others. We eliminated Nigeria in qualifying and they are ranked 12th in the world. I’m not going to say who I think is the weakest team but…ahem…Togo…
4. Do we have what it takes now, to assure a victory over Angola in Germany?
Victory is never assured, my friend. Games aren’t won or lost on paper. The best team will win on the field. May the best team be Angola!

Great answers Pasha!
Same here, I also love the “friendly, yet competitive” (you couldn’t have said it better) dialogue we are having here.
If I would like any team in our group to advance with us, it would definatly be the Palancas Negras, who have become a fan favorite in recent weeks. I think that is because although they’re not even close to being a favorite they could give a surprise and win a game or two, and jeopardize Mexico’s or Portugal chances. I’ll be rooting for you guys on your other 2 games
I do think the fans, at least me, underestimate Angola’s capability, but I’m sure that neither Lavolpe or the players do.
Good Luck!
