Game Day: Angola vs. Mexico
This is it. This is Angola’s chance to shine to and to stay alive in the World Cup. The task will not be easy against a very good Mexico team but I have a good feeling about this game.
The players have one game under their belts and they should know what to expect when they take the field. No more nerves, no more excuses, it is time for the Palancas to show that they are capable of beating anyone.
Some things I will be watching for in this match:
1. The first 20 minutes – Mexico will try to do what Portugal did and attack Angola early on. It is critical for our players to keep their composure and to not make any mistakes in the beginning of the game.
2. Angola’s attack – We need to keep the ball in the offensive end more than we did against Portugal. If Mexico is constantly attacking it extends our defense too much. The best defense is sometimes a good offense. Unfortunately, Goncalves is sticking to his guns and keeping Akwa alone as the solitary forward.
3. The bench – We need somebody to step up off the bench in the second half. Maybe it will be Mantorras or Love or someone else, but we need some life late in the game.
4. Ricardo – He’s going to need to have another solid game in goal for the Palancas to get the result.
I’m looking forward to this one. You can follow Bob’s Liveblog during the match and stop back here afterwards with your thoughts.
Go Angola!
