Emanuel Leaning Towards Angola

February 23rd, 2006 | By: WC Bob | No Comments »

As I first reported on this blog earlier this week (after reading it in Angola Press, mad props to Angola Press!), Angola coach Luis Oliveira Goncalves flew to Portugal to try to convince Pedro Emanuel to play for the Palancas Negras. Apparently those talks went pretty well. Says our beloved coach: “He hasn’t decided yet but I think he’ll decide (to play) for us. We’ll meet again in the next few days to sort it all out.”

Emanuel was born in Angola but has spent most of his life in Portugal. Up until now he has refused to even consider playing in an Angolan uniform, but for the 31-year-old Porto defender the opportunity to play in the World Cup is something he just can’t pass up.

Pedro, if you are reading this blog, just say YES. You know you want to represent your birthland and you know that we will treat you right. Be a hero. Join the Palancas Negras. Help us slay Portugal and we will put your face on our currency!
