Delgado Feels a Long Way from Home

June 9th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | No Comments »

One thing I hadn’t really thought about until I read this story about Delgado is the adjustment many of Angola’s players must make to get used to being away from home. Because many players on our team are based in Angola, they don’t have to spend long periods of time away from their family, friends and familiar environment. Throw in the fact that the German food is different and the weather is pretty chilly and I can understand why some of the players might be having a bit of a difficult time being at the World Cup. We’ve all felt homesick from time to time.

In the end, they can take comfort when they are on the football pitch. The game is the same no matter where you play it. Hoepfully Delgado and the rest of the team will be rested, fit and eager to go on Sunday. I now I will be :-)
