Angola v Malawi: Preview
The Palancas Negras will be looking to extinguish the last match out of everyone’s mind (looks quite impossible at the moment), with a win against Malawi.
Malawi are currently in great form and the team showed just that, earning a morale boosting win against Algeria.
So far, the Nations Cup this year has proven that teamwork and good chemistry between players is far more important than having a star or two in the team.
Malawi belong to the great teamwork/good chemistry side of the debate, and they will be willing to emphasize that theory on thursday.
On the other hand, Angola are still coming to terms with the biggest let down of the decade so far. But having conceded four goals in 15 minutes in the last match, they will be more focused in keeping the ball against Malawi.
Flavio and Gilberto will still be expected to carry the team through (when they were both on, Angola led 4-0). The big worry for Manuel Jose is Dede’s injury, which is expected to keep him out of thursday’s match.
It is even more worrying to know that there is no real replacement for him, as MJ pointed out in his press conference this afternoon.
Players still to make their first appearance of the Nations Cup 2010 include, Job and Ze Kalanga.
Both are very attack minded players and would probably be used if the Palancas need to score a goal late in the match.
Job has an impressive arsenal of dribbling moves, although, he does not have a good ratio in front of goal. Ze Kalanga on the other hand, is mighty fast and is a great crosser of the ball.
The worst case scenario for Angola tomorrow, is if Malawi choose to approach the game in a defensive manner.
The Palancas need Malawi to employ the same tactics as they did against Algeria, in order to take advantage of the space on the pitch.
The odd bit is that Angola was meant to be stronger in defence than in attack, but that view went up in smoke in the first game.
The African Cup this year, has given us the most unpredictable results. One can only watch and hope for the best.
My prediction: Angola 2-0 Malawi
One thing I guarantee is that:
There will be a draw and a win (happened in all groups so far)
if Mali-Algeria draw then winner in the second game. If Mali-Algeria ends with a winner then draw in second game.
Sealed and delivered…

Lol Gary,
You reckon there will be more goals or do you reckon angola will get beat?

2-0 is hardly an absurd prediction. I expect an Angola win tomorrow and it may well be by a heavy scoreline. Angola know they have to win this game or their chances of qualifying look much dimmer.

You have got to be kidding. The Flames will make a tasty barbeque out of the Black Antelopes. Malawi may have been lowest ranked country going into the tournament, but they will certainly not be at the end. Also Angola are very over-rated – they are just 5 places higher than Malawi in the rankings and are only favourites because they are hosts. Angola 0-2 Malawi, the flames roll on……

THE team they call Flames will scorch that team you are overrating. after beating up the Desert Foxes of Algeria, do you still look down up Malawi. these guys belive me are HIGHLY FLAMABLE. Prediction; whatever the margin, the result will favour Malawi, WHAT DO MALAWIANS SAY; FLAMES WOOYEE, ANGOLA YATHEKA, I have said them said so.
THE FLAMES OF MALAWI ARE HIGHLY FLAMABLE! CAN u start showing some respect please. Angola yagwa nayo kale [the Angolans are arleady down]YATHEKA [they are done]. if they can concede 4 in 15, i am afraid they wont stop the lads in Red and WHITE. Flames Wooyee!
Lets see…Angola conceded 4 goals in 15Min and Malawi scored 3 goals in 30min.That says something about Angola diffense and as for Malawi it says something about both defense and firepower.I wouldn’t be quick to predict a victory coz thats not going to happen,if anything just brace for a draw and pray that Mali draws with Algeria.
My prediction is Malawi 2—Angola 1.Malawi qualifies for second round in 2 games.

LOL we will see!
You must all have forgot that they dominated Mali for 75 minutes and could have scored more goals in that period.
Malawi are a good team but I think we will have a bucket of water to put out the flames

I will not make a prediction but I want both teams to make it to the quarter-finals. At least one or two teams from COSAFA should make it to the Finals.
Viva Malawi
Viva COSAFA

A prediction for this game is difficult. I too want both teams to make the quarters.
The best result would be for Mali and Algeria to draw, leaving them with 2 points (Mali) and 1 point (Algeria)
