Angola Player Profile: Edson Nobre
When you look at the Angolan wing, chances are you will see Edson running at full speed. The 25-year-old midfielder only has one speed: fast. Perhaps the fastest player on the Palancas Negras, Edson is always a threat to defenses that aren’t paying attention to him.
Edson recently signed a three-year deal to play with FC Paços de Ferreira in Portugal, a sign that his skills are finally being recognized internationally.
In the recent African Cup of Nations, Edson was one of the few Angolan players who had an excellent tournament. He started all three matches and repeatedly created scoring opportunities for his teammates.
This summer in Germany Edson will wear number 13 for Angola. Fans of the Palancas Negras are hoping 13 will be a lucky number!

This is the player that cant run a yard without throwing himself on the floor. Speed: slow- defenders are always faster than him.Unfortunately for Angola, there is no one to challenge him for his position(thats why he always starts). If he wants to improve, he should try staying on his feet.

There is no point in writing good reviews for rubbish players! Edson was a disappointment in the cup of Nations in my view.

Wow, you guys really dislike him? I’ve also enjoyed watching him play even if he can’t stay on his feet. Who would you like to see in his place?

Anyone that could deliver crosses and stay on his feet would be a great choice. But as i said before there is no one that could actually do both things, available to play for Angola. I have nothing against Edson, and i quite enjoy watching his skills but i am being honest when i say that his dives might lead him to get yellow carded or worse it might lead to the opposition scoring counter attack goals. Kiko’s comments were a bit harsh though, he is not that bad.

You make some good points, especially now that FIFA is trying to crack down on diving. Edson might have trouble against Mexico since they are very physical and he might spend half the game on the ground, but I like him against Iran and Portugal.

He needs to get stronger and stay on your feet man… I think you are a good player… It is the WC man…

Edson has his pluses, but I don’t see how anyone could say he’s fast. I watched all three games of the Nations Cup and he struck me as the slowest of the Angolan midfielders.
