Angola Player Profile: Andre Macanga

Andre has used his football talents to take himself to interesting parts of the world. The Angola midfielder has player for club teams in Turkey and now he plays for Kuwait SC in the Kuwait league.

Andre wears the number 8 jersey for the Palancas Negras. He has the confidence of coach Luis Oliveira Gonclaves who usually pencils his name into the starting lineup without hesitation.

Andre did not have a great African Cup of Nations this year. His poor tackle led to a penalty kick for Cameroon. Despite this less than stellar play, he did play every minute in the tournament proving once again that he is one of Angola’s Iron Men.

I expect we will see a new and improved Andre in the World Cup. He has experience playing in big games and he has been the glue that has kept the Angolan midfield together the past few years. Playing against the world’s best players will only bring out the best in him.
