Angola is more than a country with a football team

I must admit that the wounds still hurt from the Palancas Negras early exit from the African Nations Cup in Egypt. All those expectations and hopes, vanished in the soupy Egyptian night air. So today, instead of thinking about or talking about football, I have decided to give you the fair reader something different.

Let’s talk turkey, or more accurately funge, calulu and farofa. These are three wonderful Angolan foods that are certain to make even the most bitter of defeats on the pitch taste pretty darn good.

How does one make these dishes? Good question. Here are some handy recipes that will impress your friends and make you feel like you are at home in Angola.

Fish Calulu

Corn Funge

Farofa
