Angola Enters Weekend Competition as Favorites
No one in their right mind would consider Angola to be a favorite at the World Cup, but for one glorious weekend the Palancas wear that label. The team has arrived in Lesotho where it will take on Mauritius on Saturday in the COSAFA Castle Cup. On Sunday, the winner faces the victor from the Lesotho - Mozambique game.
As a World Cup qualifying team and regular winner of the COSAFA Castle Cup, Angola is a heavy favorite to advance out of the weekend’s play into the semifinals, which will be played in August. Even with the target on their backs, the Palancas know they need to take care of business.
“We came to be successful and we will do everything to obtain this result”, said the captain Akwá.
It is going to be a great weekend of football. I only wish I could make it over to Lesotho to catch things in person!
