Angola 1-1 Tunisia

August 21st, 2008 | By: kiko | 3 Comments »

Angola have drawn their friendly match against Tunisia by 1-1. The match was played in Monastir yesterday (20/08/08), and served as preparation for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Benin.

Tunisia scored first through Chermiti in the first half. Santana rescued Angola from defeat in stoppage time. The match was well balanced and both Tunisia and Angola were well organised in defense.

The left side of the midfield is currently a cause for concern as the Tunisians opted to attack through the left.
Oliveira Goncalves used 18 of the 19 players he called up. Central defender Jamba was the only substitute that was not used (the angolan newspaper “Jornal de Angola” claims that it was because Kali and Loco were excellent in central defence).

The next game is the important World Cup qualifier against Benin. The Palancas must get at least a draw to stand a realistic chance of qualifying to the next phase.

Hi,

Was Manucho involved in the game?

I heard he was included in the 19 man squad to play Tunisia, but I’m not certain.

Thanks.

I thought he was included in the squad but according to the local Angolan newspaper, he did not play.

The only explanation is that he might still be injured.

I will find out more and post it. Thanks

Thanks.

He was suffering with a metatarsal injury for the past 8 weeks or so, but when I saw on the Angolan FA website that he was included in the squad to face Tunisia, I thought he may have recovered.
