A Friendly against Turkey on June 2?
Credit goes to our eagle eyed reader Andre for noticing that on the official Angola Football Federation website there is a June 2 game listed against Turkey. As far as I know this game was never announced and it looks to me like it will replace the match against Saudi Arabia that was announced back in March.
Turkey is probably one of the best teams not to make the World Cup so this will certainly pose a challenge. One thing that concerns me is that from what I have seen Turkey is a very physical team. Given the news we have received this week, we can ill afford to lose any more players.
Credit should go to the federation for this ambitious schedule. The Palancas will know what it is like to play top class opponents after facing Argentina, Turkey and the United States.

Interesting match! If Angola wins, a Turkish friend of mine will never be in peace again.

Tell your friend that his days of peace are over. We’re going to win!

Portugal has met Turkey already twice. In EC2000 (quarter finals) and also in EC1996 (groups). In WC2002 we all saw them and, to me, it didn’t come as a surprise…
Turkey shows a very good football (contrary to their neighbours and eternal rivals – Greece), so in my mind, it’s a much better oponent for Angola than Saudia Arabia. I don’t find them extremelly physical, especially when compared to Angola.

Turkey is looking forward for this match. It is important for them to select the squad for Euro 2008 qualifiers team. Therefore they will be giving 100 % on the pitch in order to make in to Terim’s team.
